GE is subsidized by the Federal government through its subsidiary GE capital. NBC is also a subsidiary of GE and its children, MSNBC and CNBC, thus benefit from Federal subsidy. This is why GE and its subsidiaries promote the Obama party line at all costs and…why we refer to CNBC as “government-subsidized”.
Freedom of the press can only be achieved by news outlets that are not receiving government subsidy. It is only logical that GE’s news networks would tend to spin stories in ways that support their parent and their sister, GE capital. But that doesn’t make it right and clearly GE-controlled news outlets are not free to report the news in an unbiased fashion. That’s also why CNBC doesn’t have analysts like Charles Ortel, managing director of Newport Value Partners, who says GE’s stock which is presently at the $11.00 level, is worth about $2.00 on .
